Savebuckets is a quality consumer product comparison site made particularly for the UK consumer market. The service Savebuckets provides is invaluable for consumers because it gives the consumer the options to compare prices, where to buy the products and of course the pricing for each item from lowest to highest. This means that the consumer will save money and ultimately the time shopping around, whether it would be going store to store, or looking through newspaper ads.
Savebuckets really does have quite a selection of items to compare, from my guestimate, they do have to be close or even past the 1 million items that they state they have in their database. I myself did some searching just to test out the website and for simple searches; I was at times pulling thousands of results.
There are really some good features on the Savebuckets website that I have not seen anywhere else before. The main feature that sticks out in my mind is the “My Price” function. Where you can enter the price you want to pay along with your email, and Savebuckets will contact you when a supplier matches or falls below the pricing you want. Sun Microsystems announced on January 16th that it is to purchase MySQL for a total of $1 Billion USD, broken down to $800 Million for all MySQL stock and another $200 Million for options. The final process should be happening around Q3 or Q4 of Sun’s fiscal 2008.
I think this is going to mean some big changes, and most of them probably a good thing for an ever-expanding community of open source and enterprise solutions!
