December 2007

Well the Christmas celebration has come and gone (too quickly!). I had a great time, got some really awesome gifts, had a great time hanging out with family, and had a gingerbread house making contest. My team, Nette and I, lost to team Mychael and Cindy. They cheated, you know, bribed the judge with some candy, haha. All in good fun though!

I hope everyone else had a great time meeting with family and exchanging gifts. Let me know how your Christmas was!

The end of the year is rapidly approaching, and I still have much to do, it is time to get back to work! Also, if you want to read some very interesting political Christmas information please read this article, “Merry Christmas and Off With Your Head” by my friend Static Brain.

Over the weekend my client, Global Creditors Network, had a holiday party at a restaurant in Costa Mesa by the name of Marrakesh. Now I am not very cultured in the taste of foods from around the world, but I figured it was a good night to try something different. I am first going to describe the interior of the building… It had much of what I assume a Moroccan theme would be, plants, jewel encrusted objects, tables which were about 2 1/2 feet off the ground with chairs to match, and of course belly dancers.

I started out the night by trying out some Moroccan beer called “Casablanca”; it is a light lager with a taste that reminded me of Newcastle Brown Ale (my favorite beer thus far). Moving on from the beer, the host brought out a pan and “tea-pot” of warm water so we could all wash our hands at the tables. The first item that they brought out was the soup, called Harira, which contains lentils, tomatoes, garbonzo beans, and other miscellaneous items and oddly enough it reminded everyone at my table of campbell’s tomatoes soup. The second dish to be brought out was the “salad” which was basically diced tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers, and carrots; nothing special but really not a salad in the American sense. The next item to come from the kitchen, my favorite part of the whole meal, was the Bastilla, which is made up of filo dough, stuffed with chicken, egg, and almonds topped with powdered sugar and cinnamon. I know that may not sound the most appetizing, but it was really good! The last two dishes that were brought out, the main courses… of course, Chicken with Lemon & Olives and Cous Cous with Lamb and Vegetables. These two dishes were pretty good, but I did not really like the Cous Cous, it was just to weird tasting for me…

Sometime after, or before the main course Cindy and I got up and danced with the belly dancer (the 3 beers helped quite a bit I believe) and when I was “trying to feed” one of the belly dancers by putting some money in her skirt (I was pressured by everyone to do it, I swear…)  my hand ended up… in her skirt… because she kept shaking her hips more and more every time I got closer… Can you believe that?

It was a good time, Cindy and I both had a fun time. If anyone reading this is interested in trying out that restaurant, I would say go for it, at least once. You definitely will not regret going there, it was a fun environment.

As I make my rounds through pages I visit on a daily basis, I found some references to a company named, Smorty, which will pay a blog owner to post thoughts and opinions about products or services their advertisers offer. Smorty’s advertise on blogs service can help supplement an income for most bloggers who probably do not really make any money off pay-per-click ads in the first place.

A few key features of getting paid to blog are illustrated below:

Smorty: Get Paid for Blogging
I can guarantee that a service such as Smorty can affect the quality and credibility of a blog if all posts are advertiser based. On the upside, if a blogger were to find equilibrium between quality content and sponsored content, they can still make sensible amount of money on a monthly basis while not pushing away past, present and future readers.Personally, I think this a great service because it can mean extra cash in my pocket while giving my opinion about a product or service that I do not have to specifically endorse or otherwise use on a regular basis. I will follow my own rules and not overkill my blog with sponsored reading, but I would like to help pay for some bandwidth costs.

So check out Smorty and see what you think!

Being the last month of the year, I have quite a few things to wrap up to call this a productive year. I have about 6 to 8 projects that I need to finish up with, which most are pretty close, but I still need to really get everything done to hit my partial goal for this year. Most of the projects are referenced to in my post “The Countdown“. Next year I hope to start promoting these projects to bring some extra revenue streams; I will probably be looking for one or two top-notch marketers to share these projects (and revenue!) with.

In my last post entitled “Coupon Saver CD - Helping Save the Environment“, I was able finally announce a new business project that is being put together and implemented (at this very moment!) by a small group of businessmen and sales people. The great thing is that my businesses, DotResolve Consulting, has been contracted to take care of the technical side of the Coupon Saver CD. This will prove to be a great company for our portfolio, and a mutually beneficial business relationship between both companies.

This year went by way to quick and I did not get to hit most of my goals…but it has still been a great year, probably the best of my adult life thus far… I am looking forward to a more prosperous year next year though! Anyway, take care, and if a top-notch marketer happens by, bookmark my page or get in contact with me, next year is the year for ideas…
